Well just behind the heels of the western new year, it’s time for Chinese New Year! I believe it’s the year of the Snake. Hiss hiss, rah rah.
If you were to ask me which new year celebration is more impactful, I would say Chinese New Year. I guess January 1 / December 31 is exciting but it’s one night, and perhaps symbolically it doesn’t mean as much as the multiple days of Chinese New Year with its various traditions as well as main idea of connecting with family.
One of the food experiences that people have fun with during CNY is Lohei. The sweet auspicious salad meant to bring health, wealth, and great boons for the new year. Get together and toss!
We have started our yusheng, and I’m glad that over the years we’ve seen lots of folks returning to order it. Every little thing becomes a part of tradition, right?
